Module 04 / Lesson 4.7 · Review candidate

Assemble supplier and configuration records

Make the installed baseline maintainable without confusing documentation with functional validation.

1.8 minutes · English captions · Illustrations and worked example

This lesson’s core explanations and worked-example reasoning are narrated. The table restates the example for reference; the practice activity and model answer are reading exercises.

Part 1 of 4

Collect usable instructions

View Technical Explanation · Diagram 1
Collect usable instructions — diagram 1. Description below.
Operating and maintenance records are linked to the installed model and revision, rather than counted as pages. Key points: Operating instructions; Maintenance requirements; Installed model match.

Lesson explanation

Collect the supplier instructions and maintenance requirements applicable to the installed model and revision. A large folder is not necessarily a usable handover. Check that the team can identify the correct document and that referenced drawings or schedules are available. Superseded manuals should not silently become the basis for maintaining the installed configuration.

Part 2 of 4

Record control configuration

View Technical Explanation · Diagram 2
Record control configuration — diagram 2. Description below.
The configuration baseline is an input to validation; version identification is not proof of functional controls. Key points: Hardware identity; Software version; Controlled configuration.

Lesson explanation

For the vessel control system, identify the relevant hardware, software version and configuration baseline through the approved approach. A version screenshot can support identification, but it does not establish that permissions, audit trails, alarms or backup restoration work adequately. Plan the applicable computerised-system validation separately; this introductory installation module does not claim complete Annex Eleven compliance.

Part 3 of 4

Connect maintenance readiness

View Technical Explanation · Diagram 3
Connect maintenance readiness — diagram 3. Description below.
Maintenance requirements connect to an owner and required resources; unresolved readiness remains visible. Key points: Applicable task; Responsible owner; Required resources.

Lesson explanation

Link the supplier maintenance requirements to responsible site functions and the resources needed for the next authorized activity. For our case, a rear instrument requires a specific removal tool and accessible space. Record missing resources and their implications. Do not describe a task as established merely because a supplier manual mentions it.

Part 4 of 4

Review supplier test reuse

View Technical Explanation · Diagram 4
Review supplier test reuse — diagram 4. Description below.
Supplier evidence passes through an applicability and transport-impact review before supporting a site conclusion. Key points: Original evidence; Configuration applicability; Transport impact.

Lesson explanation

A supplier test may be useful when its method, data and configuration are applicable and its reuse is justified. Consider what transport and installation could have changed. A factory photograph cannot prove that a field connection was installed correctly after shipment. Retain the rationale for what is reused and the site verification still required.

Prepare a handover index for instructions, configuration and supplier evidence, including one limitation.

Compare with model reasoning

Index document identifier, revision, installed-model applicability, location and owner. Explain that a software-version record establishes identity only; define separate functional validation. Justify any supplier evidence reuse.

Knowledge check

1. A software-version screenshot is attached. What does it support by itself?
